New Zealand Government’s response to the recommendations made in the Slorach review

The Cabinet paper posted on this page sets out in detail the Government response to the 2008 Slorach review of NZFSA’s risk management framework.

Among other matters, the response includes:

• changes to the NZFSA Risk Management Framework document

• a revised NZFSA Statement of Mandate (making consumer protection a priority)

• future actions, if required, to help achieve the goals of the NZFSA Campylobacter Strategy

• a review of NZFSA's science capability,

• the preparation of a Public Policy Statement on how the precautionary approach to food risk assessments is applied and how NZFSA makes related decisions.
