Director (Approvals & ACVM)

Responsible for the Approvals and ACVM Group in the development, implementation, evaluation and reviews of standards relating to agricultural compounds, veterinary medicines and maximum residue limits. The Group also develops the New Zealand approvals processes under the Animal Products, Wine, Food and ACVM Acts. The Group’s role includes the maintenance of public registers and lists, and implementation of imported food and food-related products programmes at the point of entry.

Responsible to the Director (Approvals and ACVM) for the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Programmes. Administration of NZ: EU Mutual Recognition, Agreement on GMP. Liaises with Compliance & Investigation Group and recognition of Vertebrate Toxic Agents (VTAs) and Prescription Animal Remedy (PAR) Traders.

Linley Thorburn
Advisor (Performance Systems)

Primarily responsible for providing advice on non-compliance issues relating to plant compounds and veterinary medicines, managing complaints and ensuring that correct remedial action is taken, plus ensuring appropriate clearance procedures are in place at the New Zealand border. The Advisor (Performance Systems) also provides support to the Programme Manager (Performance Systems) on the GMP and Trader Programmes.

Advisors (Operations)

Advisors (Operations) are primarily responsible for registration and importation enquiries relating to Agricultural Compounds (Plant Compounds and Veterinary Medicines). The advisors are the client's first point of contact for all registration enquires. Each Advisor (Operations) acts as an account manager for a number of clients. Advisors (Operations) report directly to the Programme Manager (Operations). Administrative and technical enquires should be directed to the Advisors (Operations) in the first instance.

Assessors

The Assessors are responsible for input into the registration of agricultural compounds (plant compounds and veterinary medicines). They technically assess and appraise applications using agreed criteria. They are also involved in development of ACVM standards and policies.
The Plant and Animal Assessors report directly to the Programme Manager (ACVM & Non-Food Assessments).

Standards Advisors

The Standards Advisors are primarily responsible for the development of ACVM standards and policies, but also provide support to the Plant and Animal Assessor’s assessing and appraising applications for registration. The Standards Advisors report directly to the Programme Manager (Approvals and ACVM Standards).

The Advisor (MRL Standards) reports directly to the Programme Manager (Approvals & ACVM Standards).
