  • A number of workshops were held in April (Wellington and Auckland) to cover the revised draft of the proposed residue standard and guidelines and several of the veterinary medicine efficacy standards. A summary of submissions will be available soon. In the meantime all of the proposed standards and guidelines are available on the website (http://www.maf.govt.nz/acvm).

  • The ACVM Group has had some comments on the proposed standards and guidelines for ACVM risk assessors and will be contacting those who have indicated an interest in being involved. Copies of the proposed standards are available on the website (see above) or by contacting Brian Pidford (04 527 4462).

  • The Animal Remedies Board responded quickly to the recent increase in facial eczema. The unseasonal weather and increased product use resulted in a severe shortage of registered oral zinc treatments. The Board worked with industry organisations to ensure that farmers had an interim supply of zinc product available via veterinarians.
