Farewell
After a busy and entertaining 3½ years with the ACVM Group, Nick Whelan is leaving to take up a teaching position as a veterinary ophthalmologist at Iowa State University in the USA.
Nick completed clinical pharmacology training along with a veterinary ophthalmology residency in Texas before joining MAF in September 1993 as Team Leader of the Animal Remedies and Pesticides Registration team. A variety of other roles followed, including Registrar of the Animal Remedies Board.
Achievements during Nick's time with the ACVM Group include the release of the animal remedies and pesticide licensing and registration packages, an associated new fee structure, and further refinement of the decision making committees of the Animal Remedies and Pesticides Boards. Currently, with considerable help from other members of the Group, Nick has been involved in the development of policy and standards to support the new ACVM Act.
Our best wishes to Nick in his new endeavour. The Group will not be the same without him!
