The third proposed amendment to the New Zealand Mandatory Food Standards covering agricultural compounds in underway with the release of the Ministry of Health public discussion document covering the following products:

  • Antibiotics – florfenicol
  • Anticoccidials – nicarbazin, and toltrazuril
  • Pesticides – metalaxyl, methomyl and tebufenozide. Comments close on 18 February 2000.

Some of the products covered in previous changes to the food standard follow. If you require a complete list you should contact the Ministry of Health or a Government Bookshop.

The addition of new maximum residue limits for:

  • Azoxystrobin
  • Baquiloprim
  • Ceftiofur
  • Dihydrostreptomycin (DHS) and streptomycin
  • Indoxacarb
  • Meloxicam
  • Neomycin
  • Oxytetracycline/Tetracyclines
  • Tilmicosin
  • Triclabendazole
  • Triflumuron.

The amendment of existing maximum residue limits for:

  • Doramectin
  • Moxidectin
  • Tebufenozide.

An amendment to the analytical marker residue for:

  • Metalaxyl.

Where licensees or registrants wish to recognise the changed MRLs on already licenced or registered products, an application will have to be made to the ACVM Group for a variation and/or a label change.
