2,4-D

The Pesticides Board is reviewing new information on the herbicide 2,4-D because it has been implicated as causing irritant effects in a third party exposed to spray drift. A large amount of data has been supplied by registrants, and many submissions from both users and those opposed to pesticide use have been received. An expert panel has been set up with representatives from OSH, the Ministry of Health, ERMA NZ and MAF ACVM Group to consider the information and make recommendations as to what actions, if any, the Board should take regarding registrations of pesticides containing 2,4-D. The Panel will meet in early June and the Pesticides Board will meet to consider their recommendations shortly after that.
