Varroa Mite Control Products

The Minister of Agriculture has approved an Operational Policy covering the process for approval of varroa mite control products and how the ‘fast track’ process will be operated. The Operational Policy stresses that fast track in no way equates to short cutting the process of the Board’s evaluation of all of the product risks in the normal manner.

The key to a rapid assessment of the application is to have a quality application in the first place. For this reason, we have been recommending the services of a consultant who knows the process extremely well. In addition, the ACVM Group will put these applications ‘to the top of the pile’ at each stage. We will also allocate several people to work on different aspects of the application(s) at once.

As soon as a minimum of two products have been approved, no more applications will be accepted into the system for fast tracking, but all applications in the system at the time will be fast tracked to completion.
