Recent Events

• The Animal Remedies Board and the Pesticides Board met in Wellington on 20 September 2000. Notes from the meeting can be found on the ACVM website under Forums/Animal Remedies and Pesticides Boards/Notes.
• Notes from the AVMAC meeting held on 24 August 2000 are also available on the website under the Forums heading.
• MAF Food recently held an international conference in conjunction with the USFDA and the USDA. The conference was attended by almost 300 people from 12 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
• The Minister of Agriculture has agreed to extend the ‘fast-tracking’ of applications to any ‘organic’ products for the control of the varroa mite. Fast-tracking for any non-organic new applications will cease as there are now two approved products (Apistan and Bayvarol). Any applications already in the system will continue to be fast-tracked.
