Dual trade names

We want to remind registrants and licensees that, under the ACVM Act, dual trade names associated with a single registration number will not be acceptable. The ACVM Group is already working with ERMA New Zealand on the transition of products to the new legislation and on checking products in the new ISAC database. This is being done in a way that facilitates the move to the ACVM Act, and part of this process involves the review of the products that have dual trade names.

We will be writing to the companies with products affected to confirm what action is to be undertaken. Should a company choose to keep one trade name and also like to continue to market the other, the ACVM Group will require a B1 type application. Because of the age of some of the products, we may also require an update of the chemistry and manufacturing information. It is likely that the ACVM Group will waive part or all of the charges for the B1 applications that are received inside a set timeframe, providing that the chemistry and manufacturing show that there is no change to the registered or licensed product.
