Dual Trade Names - Pesticide Registrations |
The ACVM Group will soon be sending out letters (if they havent already arrived) to all companies that have more than one trade name under a single product registration number. The letter is to advise that, under the ACVM Act, dual trade names are not permissible, and therefore the ACVM Group is starting the process of tidying up these products in advance of the Act being implemented and the transition of products to the HSNO and ACVM Acts (see also the October issue of AgVetLink).
The following are the options will be offered to affected companies (at no cost if action is taken within the advised time-frame):
- cancellation of the second and subsequent trade names;
- creation of separate registrations for each additional trade name product.
The ACVM Group will allow a reasonable time-frame to make changes to labels in the marketplace, but new label approvals will need to be done as soon as possible in order to take advantage of having them done free of charge.
It should be noted that (as under the ACVM Act) each registered product will incur an annual fee, rather than the application of a single annual fee to cover anything from two to eight different trade name products.
If any other changes are made at the same time (for instance, a change of trade name as well as the addition of the new registration number or a change in proprietor / formulation / manufacturer, etc) this will incur the usual fee.
