  • Industry meetings

The ACVM Group is in the process of developing our communication plan for the implementation of the Act. We are looking for opportunities to coordinate with any major industry meetings wherever possible and are keeping a calendar of events. If you have an industry publication or a meeting planned, please contact Debbie Morris (tel 04 4744141 or email morrisdj@maf.govt.nz) with details.

  • Regulatory approval process
The April AgVetLink noted that we were preparing a consultation document regarding methodology for the consideration of applications to register products under the new Act. Work is progressing well and the document will be sent out for consultation towards the end of June.
  • MRL process
ERMA NZ, MAF and the Ministry of Health have been working together to develop a process to facilitate the setting of MRLs. Progress has been good and as soon as the procedures are approved we will advise all those affected. Watch this space!
  • Information requirements
The ACVM Group will set up a working party to clarify information requirements under the new Act. We expect to have information available in early July.
  • 'Confidential Supporting Information'
This has been indicated as an area that needs clarification. The ACVM Group is developing an operational policy, which should be available for information in July.
  • Exemptions update
A total of 27 submissions were received on the Exemption from Registration under the ACVM Act paper. A summary is being prepared to send out with the responses to submissioners, and our operational policy is being amended to cover the points raised.

AVMAC went through all of the proposed exemptions from registration recommendations from the four working groups (Animals, Plants, Fertilisers and Animal Feeds). The AVMAC comments, along with some comments from the submissions, have been incorporated into the information that will form the basis for the regulations draft. The regulations on exemptions will be the subject of further consultation, probably in July. Check back here for details.

  • Cost recovery regulations
A draft of the proposed discussion paper on cost recovery principles and practices was presented to AVMAC for comment. It is expected to be released early in June (after suggested changes have been incorporated) to all AgVetLink recipients for wider consultation. Because of time restrictions it is likely that the maximum time for consultation will be four weeks. Contact Debbie Morris (tel 04 474 4141) with any queries.
