- Boards wind-up
A wind-up function was held on 7 May 1998 for the Animal Remedies and Pesticides Boards. While the Boards will operate until the implementation of the ACVM and the HSNO Acts and will consider applications for licences made up to the implementation date, this was the last full meeting of both Boards. Members and guests were addressed by Bruce Ross (Director-General of MAF), by John Luxton (Associate Minister for Agriculture and Forestry), and by Helen Rowe (Chair of both Boards). - Fee waiver
It was agreed at the May meeting of the Pesticides Board and Animal Remedies Board that, as from 7 May 1998, the modular fees for toxicology and environmental evaluations for new active ingredients may be part waived to $911.25 (incl GST) in cases where a full and acceptable assessment from a competent OECD regulatory authority has been submitted. This waiver has been made to reflect more accurately the actual costs of processing these applications. All charges relating to other data requirements will be charged as specified in the respective fees regulations. - ACVM Group web site
The web site has been updated and is now much more user friendly! You can find copies of the animal remedies and pesiticides licensing packages (with easy to follow download instructions) as well as many of the public discussion documents. The new address is: http://www.maf.govt.nz/acvm/ - MAF Regulatory Authority
In future you will see references to 'MAF Reg' instead of MAFRA. During the MAF "rebranding" it was shown that many of our stakeholders did not immediately relate the short form name (MAFRA) to the work carried out by the Regulatory Authority. - Industry liaison group
The role of the ILG is to maintain an industry overview of the implementation of the ACVM Act. The group met on 29 April 1998 to discuss a range of operational issues affecting the ACVM Group and industry. Contact Debbie Morris (tel 04 474 4141) for further information. - Standards working parties
Susan Robertson (ACVM Group) is coordinating a number of working parties to develop standards (sets of specifications) for the ACVM Act. These groups are meeting progressively over May and June with the expectation that the standards will be available for comment in July and August. Details of the terms of reference for the working parties are available from Susan (tel 04 527 4465).
