Staff Happenings

Dr Nick Whelan is on study leave in the United States from 13 May until 30 August 1998. In his absence, Dr Barry Marshall (recently returned to New Zealand after completing a posting as Veterinary Counsellor in Washington) will be the Acting Registrar, Animal Remedies, on a part-time basis, combining this role with other responsibilities. Debbie Morris will be the Acting National Manager (Standards, Animal Remedies) covering management responsibilities and functions outside the Registrar role.

Vicki Booth, Animal Remedies Product Manager, left the ACVM Group at the end of April to take up a veterinary clinical practice position in Australia.

Russell Shand, Toxicology Assessor Coordinator, returns to the United Kingdom in late July. His replacement, Martin Pluthero (also on secondment from the UK), arrives to take up his role on 15 June.

John Reeve will be away for a six week period covering late June and July. Dave Lunn will be the Acting Registrar, Pesticides, in his absence.

Dr Chris Boland is joining the team from 1 June 1998 as a Special Adviser (Technical Policy). Chris will work with the Dairy and ACVM Teams in MAF Reg, but in the short term is expected to spend much of his time assisting in the development of technical and operational policies and standards to support the implementation of the ACVM Act.
