Approvals under ACVM Group

Under NZFSA’s restructure, all applications for approvals made under the Animal Products Act, the ACVM Act, and the Food Act were brought into one Group to ensure consistency and cost-effectiveness across the organisation.

As part of this new strategy, and in addition to her current role, Maree Zinzley is acting as Programme Manager, Food Service, Sale and Import until this role is filled. This particular area is responsible for the assessment and approval of Food Safety Plans (FSPs), Multiple Release Permits (MRPs), and Non-Food approvals, such as for rubber-wear and ceramics.

This work is all new for Maree and will take some time to digest before new streamlined systems and processes can be put into place. There is a lot of work to be developed in regards to criteria and standards in the food area and we are hopeful that some of the difficulties and processes may be ironed out as a result of the Imported Food Review (IFR).

The Food Service, Sale and Import area is not fully staffed at present but we are pleased to welcome Natalie Watson, who joined the Approvals Group on 10 October. Natalie has a background in Food Technology and will be a welcome resource to the Approvals Team.
