Registration Liaison Committee Meeting
The 29th Registration Liaison Committee (RLC) meeting was held in Canberra in September, and was attended by Brian Pidford and Maree Zinzley. Major items of interest from the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) included notice of:
• the development of a discussion paper concerning the scope of regulation of agvet chemicals in Australia for initial endorsement by the Product Safety and Integrity Committee (PSIC) within the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF)
• a proposed review to be undertaken of the existing Guidelines for Determining Minor Uses (of agchemicals)
• the development of efficacy and crop safety guidelines for minor uses of agchemicals in minor crops
• a paper on a proposed strategy to extend permitted minor uses of agchemicals to the approved label.
• a paper outlining a new approach to labelling of medicated stockfeeds with respect to scheduling , first aid instructions and safety directions required on the label of final medicated stockfeeds
• proposals for the regulation of animal semen extender products.
