Leptospirosis vaccine conditions

Conditions on leptospirosis vaccines registered for use in cattle are being reassessed as a result of the approval of a code of practice for vaccine use. The initial proposal maintained the distribution of these products through approved traders as a PAR I product but provided for use under a code of practice as an alternative. There have been concerns that this could lead to confusion for veterinarians operating under the code in apparent conflict with the veterinary profession’s standards for the management of prescription veterinary medicines. As a result there will be further consultation regarding revised conditions and the effects this may have on registrations.
