Restricted registered trade name products
The ACVM Group is reviewing the whys, the hows and the mechanisms for controls placed on registered trade name products (TNPs) of higher regulatory interest. Current controls for these types of TNPs include prescription animal remedy categories for certain registered veterinary medicine products and restricted use categories for vertebrate toxic agents.
The review has been prompted by a number of factors ranging from past difficulties in managing certain TNPs to the appropriate level of regulatory oversight through to changes to be made to the ACVM Act (ACVM Amendment Bill) that will impact on the type and way controls are placed on registered TNPs. It is intended that a public discussion document on the matter will be released later this year for comment.
