From the Director
Over the years, registrants have expressed concern that minor variations to registrations resulted in a disproportionate cost and effort compared with major applications. In recognition of this concern, the ACVM Group has developed a new process for applications that require limited regulatory appraisal. Applications that follow the Smart Track route are processed more quickly and fees are greatly reduced (page 2).
Results from the Food Residue Surveillance Programme for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 periods are now available. With a few concerning exceptions, residues complied with the New Zealand (Maximum Residue Limits of Agricultural Compounds) Food Standard (page 3).
The milk dilution policy discussed in the last issue has been finalised (page 6). It is important to recognise this policy does not replace standard WHPs, but is an additional option for risk managers to consider when treating animals.
