AgVetLink Issue 64, October 2007, Special Issue on Regulatory Reform

Timing of the Reform Programme

Addressing the framework and regulatory control of activities will form the first phase of the reform programme so that:

parties who are proprietors of products that might be affected will have early warning of the possibility and be encouraged to participate in the in-depth consultations about the relevant product groups

Regulations required to govern certain activities (and which will affect the authorisation of every agricultural compound and veterinary medicine) can be made as soon as practical.

Product group reviews are not likely to commence until mid-year 2008. The order for review will depend on the outcome of discussions with affected parties and a consideration of how urgently reforms are needed.
