Codex Antimicrobial Resistance Ad Hoc Task Force

The first meeting, which was held in Korea in October, set up three working groups on risk profiles, risk assessment and risk management to produce guidelines dealing with resistance that may affect humans arising from the use of antimicrobials in animals, horticulture or food processing. It is not intended for the work to produce actual risk assessments and risk management recommendations but to provide agreed guidelines to assist national authorities. The working groups will take account of all the previous work done by Codex, the World Organisation for Animal Health (formerly Office International Epizooties or OIE), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
