From the Director

The New Zealand Total Diet Survey for 2009 is in the planning stages. It will assess exposure to chemical residues, contaminant elements and selected nutrients across the average diet of different New Zealand age/sex groups.

We are reviewing terms of reference for the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Advisory Council (AVMAC) and welcome your input.

Access to veterinary medicines is also being reviewed as we bring the classification system up to date. See page 6 for the background.

We are working on a new proposal in the alignment with Australia project – it should save time and money in the registration process, and help in trialling would be appreciated.
