Inside the Spray Tank: alphabet soup
November 2008
Welcome back to Inside the Spray Tank – an informal ‘slice of life’ view of ACVM operations.
PDS PROs and CONs
Now we know how to get feedback—radically change our application forms! Thanks for your comments on the new PDS forms. We want to give you a little more time before we make changes, but we can tell you that the Approved Creditor option is back by popular demand. (It’s a long story!)
Did you know that there are guidelines to help you fill out the forms? Some comments made us think that you may not be using the guides.
Send feedback on the PDS forms and guidelines by 25 November, please.
From USA to NZFSA
Nicole Critelli is our new Co-ordinator, so now you know who to contact with questions that used to go to Viv.
“My passion is helping people and my position at NZSFA is a role I am excited about. I travelled from the US about 3 years ago for a job teaching yoga in Wellington. I have decided to stay because I love what Wellington and NZ have to offer! I look forward to answering all your queries!” (photo below: Nicole Critelli)

GMP of VMs and VTAs
Matthew Spencer is our new auditor in the area of vet med and vertebrate toxic agent manufacturing. He will focus on compliance with the regulatory requirements under the ACVM Act and with the PIC/s (Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention) Code of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for those companies exporting vet med products.
“I grew up in sunny Hawke’s Bay before heading to Dunedin to study Biochemistry for 5 years (BSc, then MSc). Since then I worked in a company that produces diagnostic markers for autoimmune disease (mostly biological reagents for ELISA assay kits). I was involved in R & D and in Quality Management. My interests include sport stuff--tennis, squash, soccer and any other sport I can get involved in, making some beer and wine (although the wine so far has been awful).” (photo below: Matthew Spencer)

SA of P&P Systems
Robin Johnstone is our new Senior Advisor (Process and Performance Systems). His main task is designing our new online approvals system.
“I emigrated to New Zealand from Scotland in 2005, and worked at Child, Youth and Family before joining NZFSA in June 2008. I enjoy cricket, tramping, yams and cheap cask wine.” (photo below: Robin Johnstone)
