Operational Policies and Procedures - ACVM

This page contains links to operational policies used by the ACVM Group.  These cover principles that should be followed when decisions are made or actions taken, usually by the ACVM Group.  They are divided into:

Also on this page are procedures for some aspects of the Group's operations.

The ACVM Group quality system is used as a framework to formalise the ways in which the ACVM Group makes decisions and takes action in regard to the regulatory control of agricultural compounds and veterinary medicines.

The primary purpose of the system is to allow for quality management and quality improvement. In this quality system a distinction is made between policies, standards and procedures.

  • A policy is a statement of the expectation of what must be done or the principles that must be followed when decisions are made or actions taken.
  • A standard is a precise statement of specifications that must be met by a person, facility, system or product.
  • A procedure is a statement of how a particular activity is to be carried out. Most procedures specified in the framework are for activities carried out by the ACVM Group itself.
