Agricultural Security Threshold
The ACVM Group has previously indicated that for plant compound products, there would be no requirement for efficacy information or for information on plant safety except where products were being used on food producing crops. However following discussions with Biosecurity New Zealand, there has been a change for products intended for biosecurity uses and additional information will be required. If a product is being used to eradicate a pest or disease in New Zealand, there is a need to be assured that it works - hence the need for efficacy information. The ACVM Group will also need to have an understanding of the effects on the host plant and, in some instances, depending on the use pattern, on off target plants as well.
This is a change to the thresholds found in the Guidelines for risk assessment and hazard analysis under the ACVM Act 1997.
