ACVM Act and Overview Discussion Document (aka Fundamentals Document)

NZFSA has decided not to proceed with the overview discussion document. This decision was made after NZFSA had taken into account the views of other government departments. While NZFSA remains keen to proceed with the proposals, it also recognises it is important not to rush the process. This decision will allow NZFSA to more broadly discuss its proposals with all stakeholders, and to ensure that they will not create any unnecessary duplication with the work of other government agencies.

The impacts of this decision include that the planned stakeholder meetings for March in both Australia and New Zealand have been postponed, and the release of a discussion document on regulations will be brought forward. In addition, it may be of interest that NZFSA has recently released the discussion document on cost recovery under the ACVM Act. There will be opportunities later in the year for all stakeholders to provide their views on the reform process, to build on the valuable comments that NZFSA has already received.
