Approved Traders of PAR Products

The process of approving sellers of restricted veterinary medicines (formerly prescription animal remedies or PARs) has been changed. Sellers of RVMs will be required to operate under an operating plan that is approved by NZFSA. ‘Operating plan’ is the term used to define the collection of documents (procedures etc) used by sellers to control the sale of restricted veterinary medicines.

Sellers already audited by NZFSA as ‘approved traders of PAR products’ should already have the required documents that form the operating plan. There should be no need for them to generate more documentation as a result of NZFSA adopting the term ‘operating plan’.

Good manufacturing practice (GMP) approvals under the ACVM GMP programme are, in effect, approved operating plans. For RVM products, if the manufacturing plan approved under the GMP programme includes supply under valid authorisations, then they will be considered to be sellers of RVMs as well.
