Veterinary medicine changes – Consultation and Workshops

New Zealand Food Safety Authority (NZFSA), VCNZ, and NZVA have been working together on the reclassification of veterinary medicines and the resulting changes needed to the VCNZ Code of Professional Conduct.

Half day workshops for Veterinarians, co-hosted by NZFSA, VCNZ and NZVA, will be held in various locations over the March/April 2009 period. Written invitations with details of dates and locations will be issued to all veterinarians.

At the workshops ACVM will be explaining the changes in terminology away from Prescription Animal Remedy and the criteria for determining which veterinary medicines to restrict and the category of restriction.

VCNZ will be presenting on the proposed changes to the Code of Professional Conduct in relation to veterinary medicines.
