Consultation - Postmortem examination of lamb
It is proposed that companies have the option of staying with the status quo or moving to the new hands off examination procedures for lambs as described in the proposal. NZFSA is also reviewing the post-mortem examination requirements for adult sheep. Once the review for adult sheep has been completed and the new procedures available for companies to use, NZFSA, in conjunction with industry will review the uptake of the new procedures for lambs and sheep and determine a date when all companies need to adopt the new system for all ovines. At this stage the work on adult sheep is expected to be completed mid 2008 and the new standard available by end 2008/early 2009. NZFSA would expect to undertake a review of the uptake of the new procedures in early 2010.
Closing date
This consultation closed on 24 August 2007.
