For Your Information: F13-08 Brazil –Certificate Legalisation

New Zealand Food Safety Authority
Date: 4 September 2008
From: John Lee, Market Access Counsellor

1 Certificate legalisation

1.1 NZFSA received advice from the Brazilian Embassy in New Zealand that a new decree had been issued removing the need for the legalisation of certificates for animal products and dairy products. As a consequence an FYI was issued to advise of this.

1.2 As a result of consignments being detained in Brazil in recent days the New Zealand Embassy in Brasilia has been able to find out that there is conflicting legislation in Brazil and that another Decree overrides the one the Brazilian Embassy advised on. Therefore, F6-08 and FD3-08 are cancelled and replaced by this FYI.

1.3 All certificates for animal products and dairy products will now need to be legalised by the Brazilian Embassy in New Zealand until further notice.
