1 Philippines: Accreditation Audit Visit to New Zealand Meat Premises

1.1 Exporters intending to produce meat and meat products for export to the Philippines are advised of the upcoming audit visit to meet the requirements of the Department of Agriculture Administrative Order No 16/2006.

Background:

1.2 In November 2007 NZFSA advised exporters of the process being undertaken to seek country based accreditation of meat premises intending to export to the Philippines. Country based accreditation should ensure access for all registered RMP operators who meet the Philippines OMAR requirements for the production of meat and meat products.

1.3 In February 2008 NZFSA completed the documentary requirements, including detailed questionnaires from a sample of meat premises. Philippines authorities have advised that they wish to carry out an audit of a representative sample of meat premises, in order to complete their assessment of the New Zealand regulatory controls.

1.4 NZFSA are currently working with Philippines authorities on the itinerary for a one-week audit visit to be carried out from June 23-27. Details of the itinerary, including dates, and premises to be visited, have not yet been finalised. It is likely that premises, who have already submitted Annex B questionnaires, will be selected for audit. Should other premises also be included in the audit, Annex B questionnaires and instructions for completion will be delivered prior to the audit.

1.5 All premises involved in the audit will be notified in advance.
