1 Imported Food Products Containing a Small Amount of Meat, Poultry, or Processed Egg Product Ingredients
1.1 The United States (US) Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has published a document with the above title advising of enforcement actions they intend to take as of 22 June 2009. The document outlining this action is available at the following link:

1.2 Ingredients from meat, poultry and processed eggs included even in small amounts in food products must be from US FSIS-eligible sources. This may affect some New Zealand food product exports to the US.
1.3 New Zealand processors exporting food to the US who feel that their products might be implicated by the introduction of this enforcement action are advised in the first instance to discuss this with their US importer who in turn should contact US officials in order to ascertain any likely implications that the introduction of this action might have for product exported from New Zealand to the US.
