Amendment 0: Approved Maintenance Compounds (Non-Dairy) Manual
Date: 13 July 2007
1 Background
During the transition from the Meat Act to the Animal Products Act Manual 15: Approvals Fish-Game-Meat Chemicals was maintained under the Meat Act and the relevant parts of the manual have been approved as a schedule under the Animal Products Act regime.
With the repeal of the Meat Act the opportunity has been taken to replace Manual 15: Approvals Fish-Game-Meat Chemicals with the Approved Maintenance Compounds (Non-Dairy) Manual. This has allowed the manual to better present information to applicants and operators, allow for the incorporation of information relating to sectors that were not previously covered by the Meat Act and simplify the approval under the Animal Products Act.
The essential information from Manual 15: Approvals Fish-Game-Meat Chemicals has been transferred into the Approved Maintenance Compounds (Non-Dairy) Manual. To assist operators identify the changes that have been made during this transfer the standard highlighting of amendments has been retained, in spite of this being a new document.
It should be noted that the basis of the approval system is the approval of all individual maintenance compounds until 31 October following the 5-year anniversary of the letter of approval. NZFSA has maintained a database of all individually approved maintenance compounds within Manual 15: Approvals Fish-Game-Meat Chemicals. This database was revised annually to remove compounds that were not re-approved by the due date. This database will continue to be maintained in the Approved Maintenance Compounds (Non-Dairy) Manual. This revision is based on additions of new approvals and deletions as a result of suppliers not re-approving compounds, voluntary withdrawal of compounds or failure to comply with the general conditions in the letter of approval.
