8 Supplier Statements

8.1 General Requirements

A certified supplier or a certified game estate supplier statement must be presented to the primary processor with all carcases or live possums submitted for processing. The relevant statements are:

Certified Supplier Statement for the Supply of Wild Mammal Material for Human Consumption.

Certified Supplier Statement for the Supply of Live Possums for Human Consumption.

Certified Game Estate Supplier Statement for the Supply of Game Estate Mammals for Human Consumption.

The statement must be completed and signed by the certified supplier or certified game estate supplier, as appropriate. The statement must not be signed by a person who is not a certified supplier or certified game estate supplier even if that person is under the direct supervision of the certified supplier or certified game estate supplier or involved in some other way in the hunting or capture operation.

If there is not enough space on one form for all the carcasses or live possums submitted, additional signed pages should be provided.

8.2 Additional Requirements for Game Estate Animals

Animals on game estates differ from wild animals in that they may have been treated with veterinary medicines or exposed to other agricultural compounds while under the control of the owner, manager or person in charge of those animals. In the case of deer, the Tb status of the animals is also important. For this reason, additional information must be supplied when presenting game estate animals for primary processing.

The supplier must use their knowledge of the animals to complete the supplier statement. If the animals have been moved (e.g. sold or moved to a new premises or property) such that there is a new person in control, the following would apply:

Deer, goats and pigs must be accompanied by an Animal Status Declaration (ASD) if moved. The supplier must use any ASD which apply to these animals to complete the certified game estate supplier statement when submitting these game estate animals for processing.

For thar, chamois, wallaby and water buffalo, if obtained by the person in charge within 60 days of the date that it was shot as a game estate animal, the supplier must seek information from the previous person in charge to complete the certified game estate supplier statement. If this information cannot be obtained, the animals must not be hunted and submitted for processing until 60 days from the date of purchase of the animals has passed.

Links to the supplier statements are given in Appendix 3.
