Overseas market access requirements (OMAR) - animal products

Overseas market access requirements (OMAR) outlines overseas country requirements for animal products exported from New Zealand.

OMAR and official assurances are applicable to premises and businesses operating under Animal Products Act 1999. OMAR includes Manual 12, IAIS 002.4 and requirements for other products not covered by Manual 12 and IAIS 002.4.

Country specific requirements

Some countries may have specific requirements for New Zealand animal products into their country. These countries are listed below.

The OMAR requirements are password protected (). Bilateral market access agreements can contain sensitive material and are therefore accorded a degree of confidentiality. User access to the documents is restricted to persons or parties who hold a risk management programme, exporters, NZFSA, and recognised persons and agencies. Obtain a password.

If you cannot find the country you are looking for in the list above then there are no specific requirements known at this time. Contact your local NZFSA office to confirm.

OMAR notifications and circulars

Changes to specific and general requirements can be made by OMAR notifications and circulars, in addition to Manual 12, IAIS 002 and OMAR. When an OMAR is updated relevant Notifications and circulars are incorporated.

General Requirements for Export (GREX) advises of requirements that are required to be met to allow export that are not country specific. GREXs are issued in a format similar to an OMAR Notification. And will be allocated the next sequential number in the TD/OMAR Notification list.
