5 Reporting

5.1 Predefined reports

To make it easy for users to access data, several predefined reports will be provided within the initial release of the programme. These reports, which will be defined during the early stages of the database development process, will contain predefined fields within which the user can select the range and format of data required. Each report will provide the user with the ability to enter search criteria and sort order. The results of the queries will be displayed on the screen and can be saved to Excel files on the user’s desktop.

NZFSA seeks suggestions from interested parties for the structure and content of these predefined reports.

5.2 Specialised reports

More specialised reports (i.e. containing data fields or combinations of data fields not found in the predefined reports) may be produced by using Crystal Reports to download data to Microsoft Excel. Database views will be provided to facilitate this by hiding the internal structure of the database from the user.
