Consultation on proposals to transfer New Zealand marine biotoxin monitoring data from FoodNet to the NZFSA National Contaminants Database

The New Zealand Food Safety Authority (NZFSA) is inviting comment on proposals to transfer New Zealand marine biotoxin monitoring data from the FoodNet database to the NZFSA National Contaminants Database (also known as the National Residues Database).

This is a web-based relational database that already contains analytical results for a wide variety of samples from animals used as food for human consumption. Once completed, the new marine biotoxin database will be a valuable resource - accessible and allowing for extraction and analysis of data to suit the needs of regulators, public health units, industry, laboratories and researchers, with appropriate password protection.

Submissions

The NZFSA seeks submissions from all interested parties on any of the material presented in these proposals. Please include the following information in your submission:

your name, and title (if applicable)

your organisation’s name (if applicable)

your address and contact details.

All submissions will be considered and analysed before NZFSA makes a decision on the structure, content and management system for the new database.

Please note that your submission is public information and subject to the Official Information Act 1982. Therefore, if you consider that any or all information in your submission should be treated as confidential or is commercially sensitive, please state this clearly when making your submission.

Please note that the deadline for receipt of submissions is 5pm 20th July 2007.
