Summary of Submissions on the Transition Policy and Related Implementation Discussion Document

2 Background

NZFSA published nine discussion papers for public consultation as part of its DFR. The nine papers were:

Introduction and context

Regulatory roles, responsibilities and structures

Proposed Food Control Plans

Implementation of Food Control Plans

Cost recovery

Compliance and sanctions: criteria and tools for the future

Criteria and processes for various approvals

Position Paper

Transition Policy and Related Implementation

These papers are available on the internet (www.nzfsa.govt.nz) and in hard copy. The last paper, released in late October 2006, was the Transition Policy and Related Implementation discussion document. The discussion document detailed NZFSA’s proposals for transitional arrangements for the new food regime. The closing date for written submissions on the Transition Policy and Related Implementation discussion document was 9 February 2007.
