Food safety and the New Zealand public 2007 survey

9 Raw Milk Cheeses

New Zealanders were divided on whether or not raw milk cheeses should be able to be sold in New Zealand, although opponents did outnumber supporters. On a 5 point scale where 1 meant strongly support, 25% rated their support as either 1or 2, while 44% chose 4 or 5. Amongst those who had stated that they had concerns about cheese in an earlier question, 21% supported raw milk cheeses and 48% were opposed. 34% of those who regularly ate at restaurants supported raw milk cheeses, as did 37% of Wellington residents (n=78).

SUPPORT OR OPPOSE ALLOWING RAW MILK CHEESES TO BE SOLD IN NEW ZEALAND

The New Zealand Food Safety Authority recently decided to allow the raw milk cheese called Roquefort to be imported to New Zealand, and is considering allowing other raw milk cheeses to be sold. Raw milk cheeses are enjoyed by many and eaten widely overseas but are considered a health risk for those who are unwell, frail, elderly or pregnant Using a scale of 1-5 where 1 means strongly support and 5 that strongly oppose, how strongly do you support or oppose allowing raw milk cheeses to be sold in New Zealand?
