Summary of changes to DPC documents

November 2008

Changes to the Approved Criteria documents were initially flagged in a letter to stakeholders that went on the NZFSA website when the first Approved Criteria document was posted (Agency and Persons Approved Criteria) as per agreement at DPSAC March 2007.

“The amendments that have been made include:

• Changes to references which are out of date (eg NZFSA Dairy and Plants);

• Correction of typos and incorrect numbering of sections;

• Amendment of text with incorrect terminology (correction of superscript on log reductions);

• Amendment of text that was changed during the edit process to give a different meaning than was originally intended (ie out of context);

• An update of the water requirements in DPC 3 (pages 10 – 14);

• Amendment of some of the requirements that are not working well in the Animal Products Act framework (such as assigning frequency of assessment by NZFSA);

• Removal of any reference to assessments of test methods being done by the accreditation body (IANZ have indicated that they can no longer be involved in assessment or provide a recommendation to NZFSA for test methods approval).”

Incorrect terminology – 6.3.3 RMP Critical non-compliances reported by clients - ‘re-approved’ changed to ‘registered’.

Included additional technical competency requirements for RMP evaluators and verifiers identified by the Dairy Heat Treatment Working Group and endorsed by DPSAC August 2008.
