This site contains information on the requirements for the safe production, processing and sale of food produced in, or imported into, New Zealand.

NZFSA has reviewed New Zealand's domestic food regulatory programme. While a new food bill is being developed, we are currently offering a voluntary Food Control Plan. This wide ranging long-term project represents the first major review of food controls in over 25 years. Find information on the regulatory control of agricultural compounds (veterinary medicines/plant compounds), and their importation, manufacture, sale and use. Find the production and processing requirements for animal products (meat, game, seafood, honey and other animal products) intended for the local market as well as overseas market access requirements. Find the regulatory requirements for production and processing of dairy products intended for both local consumption and export. Find information on the allowable limits for residue levels in plants products intended as food which have been imported from other countries or grown in New Zealand.

Electronic certification is the tool used by the New Zealand Food Safety Authority (NZFSA) to assist with providing government to government assurances that the products received by the importing country comply with their standards.
