Organics - Exporting
Accreditation bodies – IANZ and JAS-ANZ
Accreditation bodies accredit third party agencies (TPAs) and their ‘individuals’ (personnel). They then recommend to NZFSA that these agencies or individuals become recognised by NZFSA.
Third party agencies and their individuals are recognised to evaluate and verify that organic operators and exporters meet NZFSA organic standard OP3 and appropriate market-specific export requirements.
Accreditation bodies assess third party agencies against ISO standard 17020 and supplementary criteria set by NZFSA. NZFSA’s criteria are outlined in NZFSA organic standards OP1 and OP2.
The 2 accreditation bodies that operate in New Zealand are:
• International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ)
• Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ).
