New Zealand (Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code) Food Standards 2002, Amendment No. 4
The Minister for Food Safety, under section 11L of the Food Act 1981, issues the following amendment to the New Zealand (Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code) Food Standards 2002.
1. Title
These standards may be cited as the New Zealand (Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code) Food Standards 2002, Amendment No. 4.
2. Commencement
This amendment comes into force 28 days after its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.
3. Amendment
The New Zealand (Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code) Food Standards 2002 are amended by omitting clause 4 and substituting the following clause:
"4 The Food Standards Code
(1) Under section 11F of the Food Act 1981, these standards incorporate the Food Standards Code, as amended, up to and including amendment No. 67 to the Food Standards Code.
(2) Despite clause 4(1), these standards do not incorporate those parts of the Food Standards Code identified in the Food Standards Code as applying only in Australia."

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the standards and has been included to explain their general effect.
The New Zealand (Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code) Food Standards 2002, Amendment No. 4 adopts into New Zealand domestic law Amendment No. 67 of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code.
The New Zealand (Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code) Foods Standard 2002, Amendment No. 4 was notified in the New Zealand Gazette on 16 October 2003 and will come into effect 28 days after this date.
Amendment No. 67 of the Food Standards Code
Amendment No. 67 contains amendments to the Food Standards Code, including amendments that:
- Allow the enzyme alpha-amylase as a processing aid (Standard 1.3.3);
- Allow the sugar trehalose as a novel food (Standard 1.5.1);
- Allow the production of foods from the insect protected and glufosinate ammonium-tolerant corn line 1507 (Standard 1.5.2).
- Introduce minor changes and correction of errors in the Code.
Food standards subject to Regulations (Disallowance) Act 1989
Food standards, including this amendment, are subject to the Regulations (Disallowance) Act 1989. Any person has the right to make a complaint about a food standard to the Regulations Review Committee.
