Heinz has withdrawn from retail the 900g can of its Heinz Nurture PLUS Formula product with date code “USE BY 12 FEB 2009 “ and “USE BY 13 FEB 2009” (shown on the base of the can).

The withdrawal does NOT affect any other Heinz Nurture Infant Formula.

The product may have had soy lecithin added during the manufacturing process. This means that the product may possibly contain small amounts of soy which is not declared on the label. Independent product testing has found no detectable soy protein.

The withdrawal is a precautionary measure only. There have been no reports of upset or illness, however anyone with a known allergy to soy is advised not to consume this product and to seek further advice from their health professional for an alternative formula. This product is safe for consumers with no allergy to soy.

Soy lecithin is a common ingredient in cows’ milk formulas and makes them easier to mix, but is not an ingredient in Heinz Nurture PLUS Formula. All other Heinz Nurture infant formula products contain lecithin as declared on the label.

Heinz Nurture PLUS Formula with “USE BY 12 FEB 2009” and “USE BY 13 FEB 2009” (shown on the base of the can) may be returned to the store of purchase for a full refund.

Heinz apologises sincerely for this problem, and for the inconvenience of the withdrawal. Replacement product will be available as soon as possible.
