Thinking of coming to the NZFSA Conference next month?. You better get in quick, places are filling up fast.

The conference "Building and Maintaining Confidence in New Zealand Food" promises to be an interesting and exciting affair with a number of speakers having confirmed their attendance. It is being held at the Stamford Plaza in Auckland on 25 and 26 March.

The conference will discuss how New Zealand can build upon and maintain confidence in New Zealand food, how we can, and are, responding to the needs of a changing world and how we can manage the risks in food. It will also look at the role industry plays in food safety. The Police will talk about how they managed safety risks at the New Zealand Golf Open in Paraparaumu when Tiger Woods played and there'll be a talk about security issues during the Sydney Olympics.

There will be workshops on food safety and food labelling, dairy, animal products and agricultural compounds and veterinary medicines.

The conference will be officially opened by the Minister for Food Safety Annette King who will talk about 'Food, Consumers and New Zealand's Reputation'. Sue Dibb, of the UK's National Consumer Council will speak about meeting consumers' expectations. Speakers from within New Zealand include Dick Hubbard of Hubbards Foods, Brian Lynch, Executive Director of the New Zealand Meat Industry Association and Tom Lambie, National President of Federated Farmers.

Well-known food celebrity Peta Mathias is the after dinner speaker on the first day. The Authority is still taking registrations but places are limited. For more information or a registration form, go to www.nzfsa.govt.nz or email haidee.davidson@nzfsa.govt.nz.
