Exemptions for wine consignments that are not for retail sale
There are certain types of wine consignments that you can export without a wine standards management plan, meeting export eligibility requirements, or being a registered wine exporter. You still must comply with the requirements of the Wine Act.
These exemptions apply to consignments of wine being exported for:
• trade samples
• research and development
• personal use of the person travelling with the consignment
• consumption during transit on a vessel or aircraft leaving New Zealand.
For full conditions of the exemptions you can read section 39 of the Wine Act 2003.
