Exempt Winemakers

This list contains the details of winemakers who meet the criteria under regulation 5A of the Wine Regulations 2006 which exempts winemakers from the requirement to register a wine standards management plan with the New Zealand Food Safety Authority.

Winemakers are exempt if:

  1. they produce less than 10000 L of wine per year and;
  2. sell all of their wine in New Zealand

The exemption is from registering a wine standards management plan only. Those who appear on this list remain subject to all other standards under the Wine Act 2003. The best way to comply with these standards is to follow all relevant components of the wine standards management plan code of practice.

To ensure compliance to the exemption New Zealand Food Safety Authority will undertake random audits of exempt winemakers.
